Workshops (6 Hours) -For most of the workshops, participants are asked to do some cutting at home so that we are ready to sew as soon as the workshops begin. For Topsy Turvy Nine Patch and Jellybean Garden, participants are asked to make the nine patches prior to class time so that we can get the top mostly finished in class.
Because borders are so important to the overall quilt, a small portion of each class will be dedicated to borders. We will discuss:
If you have seen one of my projects you think your guild/group would enjoy and you do not see it here, please contact me.
A Rose is a Rose - (76" x 96") - Scraps can be used with a single or multiple background fabrics. Emphasis is given to creating transparency in the secondary blocks. A simple four patch border made from leftover fabrics or scraps frames the center. Kits for fabrics for transparency are available but not required. Patriotic Stars (78" x 90") - The Tri-Recs™ ruler is used to create perfect points. Paper piecing is used for the ribbon border, which is a very versatile border that will be used over and over.
Class Supplies for Patriotic Stars.
Morning Splash - (84" x 100") - You'll be surprised at the ease of the blocks and you'll want to use this border over and over again.
Shining Star - (66" x 84") - The Tri-Recs™ ruler makes perfect points! The alternating block makes for a quick quilt. The border is very forgiving and always fits perfectly!

Jellybean Garden (81" x 95") - Just a bit of a twist on setting the nine patch blocks together. A plain, quick border with a pieced corner frames those easy nine patches.

Topsy Turvy Nine Patch (60" x 78") - A favorite for the past few years. Topsy Turvy Nine Patch is a fun quilt to make! I've seen so many fabric combinations and they're all fantastic!
Big Star - 72" x 90"- Big blocks go quickly. A no waste method is used for flying geese. Another border you'll want to use over and over again.
Cutting Instructions for pieces to bring to class.
Peaches & Cream - 80" x 92" (can easily be made smaller) - Look at your stash. Do you have way too much of one color? Use it in this quilt. Lights, mediums, darks, along with some backgrounds (ecrus or whites) and you'll have a stunning monochomatic type quilt.
Bears in the Farmhouse - 72" x 87"- Stripes make this quilt! It's a fun and quick quilt.

Half Day Workshop: Borders & Sashings - A full day of pieced borders and sashings. No sewing is required but bring a little calculator, your digital camera, and take lots of pictures. A booklet ($5.00 fee per student) is included with border/sashing instructions, as well as a sheet for calculating how to figure the "fudge" or coping strip to make pieced borders fit your top. Bring a top that needs borders and a few will be chosen as class projects (ideas only . . no borders will be made).
Demystify "Quilt as Desired" - If "Quilt as Desired" sends your quilt to the "waiting to be quilted" pile because you don't have a clue what to do with it, bring it to class and we may use it to talk about choosing the perfect quilting designs to accentuate your quilt.
Freeze Frame - 68" x 76" - Can't get much easier than this one!
